At an investor's meeting today the CEO of Ubisoft announced that the next Assassin's Creed title will take the main character, Ezio, to Rome. This new Assassin's Creed game isn't going to be the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed 3, but rather an "expansion" onto the Assassin's Creed 2 storyline.
This new game will also be the first in the Assassin's Creed series to offer online multiplayer, and although the exact information on the multiplayer hasn't been announced yet, my guess is that Co-Op will make an appearance. Finally, after the CEO's new announcement he was asked whether he want's to make the Assassin's Creed franchise an annual one, he responded, "We can't comment on that yet, [but] We are going to come very often (to) that franchise".
