Borderlands got a new tag line at the end of last year, Best selling new IP of 2009. It turns out that 2009 wasn't the only year that Borderlands was doing well, because its still selling... a lot!Randy Pitchford, CEO and Founder of Gearbox, has said that the newest numbers for Borderlands are upwards of 3 million units sold.
Gearbox has also been supporting their game very well with new DLC packs coming out every 2 or so months. To keep in the spirit of things, Gearbox has just released some new screens of their latest and greatest DLC pack entitled "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx’s". This DLC will add a new tier of unique weapons, new eniemes, and raise the level cap.You can see with Borderlands alone that a DLC business strategy like this pays off pretty well, and its no surprise to see other big releases doing the same thing, ie: Dragon Age: Origins.
What do you guys think of this? Would you like more depth to your games with DLC, or you would like more stand alone games?
