New Star Wars: The Old Republic Video Shows Us How To Beat A Jedi

When most people think of Star Wars, the two things that pop into their head are light-sabers, and Jedi. This seems to be a problem that the new BioWare and LucasArts MMO is trying to address the best it can.
In the latest video, put out by the SWtoR creators, they show how the game's combat works and why being a Jedi isn't always the best choice.

Although it seems that SWtoR is trying very hard to difrenciate itself from other MMOs, I'm having a hard time seeing major differences. The combat itself seems like a good idea, but when put into action it looks very plain and dull. It could just be that I'm kind of burned out on MMOs at the moment, or that this game really isn't as great as some hope it will be.

A New Mass Effect 2 Squad Member Is Now Up For Rectruitment

Ready for another space mission? No? Well too bad, because Bioware and EA have just launched their first new party member DLC for Mass Effect 2.
Kasumi - Stolen Memory includes a new squad member, mission, weapon, research upgrade, casual outfit, and new achievements.

I'm not quite ready to go back into Mass Effect 2, although I do see myself jumping back in for another play-through right before Mass Effect 3 comes out. A fully loaded party with a bunch of DLC characters does sound like a good time.

Mass Effect 2 Kasumi DLC Gets A Price

Up until the Alternate Appearance Pack, all of the Mass Effect 2 DLC, had been free for Cerberus members. Now the first DLC pack to add a new member to Shepard's crew will also cost you more than a Cerberus "membership fee".

"Cerberus has procured the service of Kasumi Goto, the galaxy's most enigmatic master thief. In return for her help, Kasumi has asked Shepard's help on a dangerous heist to infiltrate the vault of a deadly master criminal named Donovan Hock. Gain Kasumi's loyalty on the planet Bekenstein, where Hock is throwing a party for some of the galaxy's richest and most deranged criminal minds to recover data of great importance to Kasumi... and to the galaxy at large. Includes a new squad member, mission, weapon, research upgrade, casual outfit, and achievement."

The new DLC pack is entitled "Kasumi - Stolen Memory" and it will cost you 560 Microsoft points on the Xbox 360, 560 BioWare points on the PC, and it will come out later in April.

So far I feel that EA/BioWare have been very fair with their DLC strategy, giving enough free DLC for Cerberus members and not over charging for premium DLC, so I'll defiantly be picking this one up.

Mass Effect 2 DLC Coming March 23

Bioware announced earlier today that the "Firewalker" DLC, which will be free for everyone connected to the Cerberus Network, is coming out March 23.
The DLC pack will contain a five-mission pack introduces us to the Hammerhead, a new flying vehicle.
Mass Effect 2 is without a doubt one of the best games I've played in a while, and some free DLC is always welcome. Lets just hope this vehicle doesn't turn out the same as the MAKO from Mass Effect(1).

Mass Effect 2 DLC Pack Announced For March

If you missed the "MAKO" in Mass Effect one...you suck...but other than that, there might be some good news for you here. Bioware has just announced that the next Mass Effect 2 DLC pack entitled, "Firewalker", will be available "late March".
The "Firewalker" will include a vehicle, much like the MAKO, but without wheels (and lets hope better controls). The "Hammerhead", the vehicle's name, will be able to reach speeds "up to 120 kilometers per hour" and you'll be able to shoot baddies with its equipped missiles. 5 new missions will also be along for the ride in this DLC, but best of all, its free! Aslong as you bought the game new, and signed up for the cerebus network that is.
Otherwise you'll have to par-take in EA's new "Project Ten Dollar", and actually drop some money.

Dragon Age: Awakening, New Character Velanna

So far the first bit of news that hasn't come from today's X10 event is that Bioware's announcement of a new character in their upcoming Dragon Age expansion.
Dragon Age Origins: Awakening is going to include several new characters when it comes out on March 16, one of which will be Velanna, who seems to be a mage of sorts.

There was no official statement with this video, so your guess on what kind of role this character will play is as good as mine.

Free Mass Effect 2 DLC tomorrow

Yup, Mass Effect 2 has already got some free DLC coming your way tomorrow around noon (mountain time). Bioware has just announced that tomorrow's free DLC will be for folks who are connected to the Cerberus Network, and that the DLC will include a Shotgun and some armor.

Cerberus Assault Armor
Cerberus assault armor is designed for shock troops, turn the tide of battle against creatures or forces that would decimate normal soldiers.
Increases heavy weapon ammo capacity by +10%
Increases shields by +10%
Increases health by +10%

M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun
The M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun is a longer-range shotgun with armor-piercing loads. This design also violates several intergalactic weapons treaties, so the M-22a is not distributed to militaries.

As a very happy owner of Mass Effect 2 I couldn't be happier to see that Bioware is showing support for their Cerberus Network so soon after launch. Be sure to check back often, as I'm sure Bioware has more where this came from!

New Dragon Age game in early 2011

EA has just announced a new title in Bioware's Dragon Age series to come out early 2011. There's no word on whether this will be a direct sequel to the critically acclaimed "Dragon Age: Origins" or if this is going to be some sort of spin-off.

There is however some very interesting news which leads to be believe this will not be a direct sequel to "Origins". This new Dragon Age title will also be available on handhelds. There's no word on whether this means handhelds like the DS or PSP, or whether it will show up on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. Seeing how Bioware has also done a Mass Effect spin-off on the iPhone/iPod Touch called Mass Effect: Galaxies, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dragon Age get the same treatment. Regardless, I for one am excited about anything new in the Dragon Age series, as it was one of my favorite new IP's of 2009.
